Dariel's "Sizzling Summer Blog Hop" Stop

Happy Independence Day, and welcome to my stop on the Romance Troupe's "Sizzling Summer Hop!" While you're here, take a look at my upcoming summer release (speaking of sizzling sunner) - "Untameable Heat: Kaden's Reprieve" - coming your way July 11th.

Right now, join our party ("Untameable Heat" is the unifying theme of two novellas from 2 different authors - Kathryn Edgar and yours truly), and I added this short excerpt from "Jordan's Wings" (The Alerians - Dark Progeny Book One) for your reading pleasure. Make sure to enter the Rafflecopter below for chances to win fabulous prizes.

Available July 11th!

**Kaden’s Reprieve Blurb**

Tanya has been running for her life for two years, but when Ms. Lillian, owner of the exclusive “Heaven’s Touch” match making service, graciously gives her a week’s stay at her private bed and breakfast in St. Augustine, FL, she seizes the opportunity to escape to a possible hideaway.

Kaden is of a rare and precious race prized for extraordinary abilities. He is also half-demon,

remanded to Kushiel’s custody centuries ago. Allowed leave from Hell twice a year, three days each

time – Beltane, and Samhain, his life thus far has been filled with slavery, torture, and despair, and he is

nearly convinced that his soul is beyond redemption. Still, he longs for freedom. Can Tanya redeem

him? Can Kaden dare hope for a reprieve?

Excerpt - "Jordan's Wings" (The Alerians - Dark Progeny book one)

Canaan lay on the sofa, listening to their heartbeats. He knew the moment Robert succumbed to sleep, the steady, decelerated rhythm unmistakable, but Jordan remained awake, her heartbeat tapping a rhythm he could not ignore.  His spirit recognized that tapping rhythm. He closed his eyes, listening and waiting.

He was so drawn to Jordan, envisioning her beneath him, his incisors lengthened, and he wondered if she tasted as sweet as he imagined. During his first years among humans, he had found pleasure in any woman’s touch in a futile attempt to fill his increasingly maw-driven need. He had chosen some women to be used as donors, and others as sexual partners, studying their bodies as he learned to pleasure them. The threads of his moral code did not allow him to use donors as sexual partners because entranced donors did not have the power to consent. It was a necessary evil to take from donors without their knowledge, but he wanted his sexual partners aware and willing.

His DNA made him immune to communicable diseases and each Alerian was only capable of siring offspring with his lifemate. He had become much more discriminating recently, choosing fewer and fewer as sexual partners. In his recent years, his actions had been driven by two things – to survive, and to avoid the Seekers. Now, however, a need stronger than survival drove him.

He needed Jordan. His desire for her was beyond anything he could have imagined, but he had to maintain control. He knew she wasn’t easily frightened, but the fire inside him was searing, dangerous, and he would die if he hurt her. He sighed and stood.

Suddenly, Jordan stilled. Canaan heard her soft intake of breath. The acceleration of her heartbeat assured him that she knew he was there.

Canaan leaned his shoulder against the doorjamb, the top of his head a scant few inches from the top of the door. “Trouble sleeping?”

He was drawn in by her soft, liquid brown eyes as she stared at him, and he wondered if she realized her lips were parted or that her plush body was sending him “come hither” signals.  He didn’t want to frighten her, so he forced himself to remain still as her sweet scent of arousal sizzled along his spine.

Desire for her nearly overwhelmed him, and he fought to reign in his power. Her boyfriend, the man who thought he was his best friend was in the next room, for the One God’s sake. None of that mattered to him in the moment, though. His need for her was much more than physical. She was meant for him, and somehow she had always been his from the moment she was conceived. Now, he had to figure out how to convince her. She wanted him physically, but that would never be enough. In all his travels and studies, he had no idea how to win her heart.

Just a taste. He took a step closer to her and leaned in, a latch flipping open inside him. Mmmm. A tiny wall-mounted mp3 player blared to life as he passed it, an energy storm building inside him, and his mind was consumed with Jordan. He felt his wings pressing against his shoulder-blades, threatening to break free.

Untameable Heat: Kaden's Reprieve has a wonderful blurb as well. Looking forward to this series. I love the covers on all of the books. I like looking at them!

Thank you so much again! I hope that everyone has brilliant rest of the week and upcoming weekend (since it's Wednesday currently!)
