Capture Romance, You Say? Oh, the Controversy

What do authors, Kathleen Woodiwiss, J.R. Ward, and my upcoming guest Madeline Iva have in common? Capture romance. What’s that? I’m glad you asked. Capture romances are stories in which the hero kidnaps the heroine in some way. From that point, he convinces her to stay with him. Oh, the controversy!

In this day of strong, capable, independent women, what would Sir Freud say about us harboring a fantasy of being so overtaken by our emotions and desires that we allow ourselves to be convinced, persuaded, or coerced by a man? Hmmm.  The catch, of course, is that the heroine is not harmed in any way by the hero other than her pride, and as we all know, pride goeth before the fall

Author Madeline Iva will be my guest this weekend, and I’m always curious about these things. Take my poll. Are you harboring a fantasy to be captured and captivated by a dreamy hero? Feel free to elaborate in comments...
