Dariel's Flasher Friday Stop: "Chop, Chop"

It's Flasher Friday again! Every Friday, the Flashers get together and write 100 max. words using the same pic as inspiration. This week I pictured small town lovers seeking a little excitement. Hope you enjoy it, and take a look at my friends' flashes when you finish :-)
Here's the inspirational pic...

Chop chop

Mark’s husky bass rattles, echoing through my rib cage, kicking me in gear.

“I’ll surprise you. Meet me at our place, Baby. Chop chop.”

I jump up from my ratty T-shirt-wearing, soap-watching stupor.

“Our place” is this country little 24-hour dive. There, we’ve explored the joys of foreplay, engrossed in each other, cares thrown away.

I reach for the door, confused by  the “closed” sign until Mark steps up behind me, his arousal obvious against my bottom, sticks his key in the lock and shoves me inside, cuffing my hands. The place is empty. “Chop chop” takes on new meaning.

Dariel's Feature: "Taking Nicole" by Krystal Shannan - Cover Reveal

Vegas Mates, Book 4

Krystal Shannan

The last thing Nicole Demakis remembers was getting in the car with Sarah’s kidnapper and driving away. Now she faces the cold hard truth. The kidnapper, an agent of the Council, is her mate. But he refuses to claim her, and the Council may take everything away before she even has a chance to convince him to trust her.

Aaron Katsaros was ordered to deliver Nicole to her grandparents, the Antipas royal wolves. It should’ve been an easy task. Clean. No hiccups. But this infuriating woman, this wolf, his mate…is one hiccup after another and she’s arousing him to the point of pain. With his sister’s life hanging in the balance, he refuses to allow his passion to cost him the only family he has left.

Can he find a way to save his mate, or will he be forced to watch another claim the woman he loves?

Krystal Shannan goes to sleep every night dreaming of mythical realms with werewolves, vampires, fae, and dragons. Occasional a fabulous, completely human story slips into the mix, but powers and abilities usually crop up without fail, twisting reality into whatever her mind can conceive.

As a child, her parents encouraged her interests in Ancient Greek and Roman mythology and all things historical and magickal. As an adult, the interests only grew. She is a child of Neverland and refuses to ever stop believing in fairies. She is guilty of indulging in and being a Buffy the Vampire Slayer groupie as well as an Angel fan. For those of you unfamiliar with the world of Joss Whedon, you are missing out!

She also makes sure to watch as many action and adventure movies as possible. The more exciting the better. Yippee-Ki-Yay... If you don't know the end of that phrase, then you probably don't like the same movies.

She enjoys reading romance in all genres, but especially paranormal. Her favorite book is ACHERON by Sherrilyn Kenyon. But really, if it has a 'Happily Ever After', she's on board!

Krystal writes stories full of action, snark, magick, and heart-felt emotion. If you are looking for leisurely-paced sweet romance, her books are probably not for you. However, for those looking for a magickal ride, filled with adventure, passion, and just a hint of humor. Welcome home.

Dariel's Tantalizing Tuesday Teaser: "Tax Preparation"

Welcome to another Tantalizing Tuesday Teaser! As you know, a group of us get together every Tuesday, choose a pic for inspiration, and write 200 words max. to tantalize and tease. This week I've got taxes on my mind, so thought I'd share the excitement with you :-) Hope you enjoy, and click on this link for more teasers from my friends when you finish.

Tax Preparation
Quiet. Everyone else is gone for the day. Black is too obvious. No, no black for this one. I’ve done my research and his favorite color is blue. I press my nose to my wrist – Cool Water for Women. Mmm. I smell so good I wanna fuck myself!

Courage is fickle, flies away as quickly as she landed. Powder blue lace thong with matching bra, silk stockings, electric blue wrap dress hugs my figure to perfection, navy blue stiletto sling-backs, hair loosely pinned so heavy ringlets of dark auburn can drop and bounce at the small of my back in seconds, oh, and I almost forgot – my tiny Fukuoko butterfly clipped to my thong in just the right spot to graze my vulva and clit sporadically, adds a healthy flush.

I grab my files and prance down the hall to his office, my little butterfly adding just the right swivel to my full hips, that zing traveling outward from my center like electrified tentacles. I can’t wait to wrap my legs around his waist, toss his glasses away.

Tap, tap. “You still up for doing my taxes?” I ask, then smile. Looks like he’s prepared to do more than my taxes.

Dariel's Flasher Friday: "Celia's Claiming" Pt. 2

Feels great to be back with my Flasher Friday friends! Been out a couple weeks getting my new released launched. Today's post takes you back to the beginning of "Celia's Claiming." You'll notice I do that a lot. I often write that way, too - out of order - scenes near the middle or end before writing the beginning :-) The first flash from this story was posted here if you'd like to read it. Just to recap, every Friday, several of us write a post of 100 words max using the same pic. Cool, huh? Hope you enjoy "Celia's Claiming" Part 2, and click on the link below to continue reading more flashes written by my friends. Here's our inspirational pic for this week...
"Celia's Claiming" Pt. 2
Celia rose from the murky depths, temporary appendages humming with newborn energy. I tire of this, but know no alternative.
She sighed, caressing her curves, fingering the soft dark curls at the apex between her supple limbs, and climbed onto the nearest rock far from the shore.
Conjuring a handheld mirror, she assessed her youthful features. Unfortunately, they, too, would be as temporary as her limbs if she disobeyed the fey god.

She slipped from the rock and began her customary swim to shore, wondering who her conquest would be this time. Someone evil, she hoped, or were they all  evil.

New Release: "The Witch's Thief" by Tricia Schneider

The Witch's Thief
is now available world-wide!

The Merriweather Witches is a paranormal romance series set during Regency-era England about a family of witches as they search for love among a life of danger and magic.

The Witch and the Wolf begins the series with Lillian Merriweather...

Lord Jeremy North's curse is to become a werewolf during every full moon, turning into a bloodthirsty monster that kills with no remorse. When he finds a woman nearly frozen upon his doorstep, his sense of honor compels him to help her, even at the risk he might kill her himself.

Lillian Merriweather hadn't planned to get caught in a blizzard while traveling the English countryside. Nor had she planned on finding refuge in a house full of secrets. But Lillian has secrets of her own. And what she's running from is not far behind...

The Witch and the Vampire continues with Melora Merriweather...

Melora Merriweather is searching for a fellow witch to protect her from a scheming uncle with plans of marriage. When her carriage overturns on her journey, she is rescued by a mysterious man whom she learns is the very person she seeks. But, he's not the witch she thought he was...

Sebastian Collins should have left for London days ago. Now a snowstorm has trapped him with a woman who has come seeking protection, a woman who intrigues him like no other. And with each passing hour, his hunger for her grows...hunger for her kiss, her caress, and her blood.

And the series continues with The Witch's Thief...

To save her sister’s life, Julia Grey seeks a spell hidden somewhere within Merriweather Manor. Her position as a lady's companion affords her the freedom to search the house. But time is running out. The necromancer she's bargained with is growing impatient. And an unexpected appearance of a man from her past makes matters worse in an already complicated situation.

Basil Merriweather returns to England after ten years abroad to discover his childhood sweetheart living in his home. But, he's no longer the carefree man of his youth and she's hiding something--deadly secrets Basil vows to uncover even as he hides a dark secret of his own.

While neither Basil nor Julia will trust in the other, their hearts speak a truer language.  In a grand attempt to save Julia's sister and Basil's life, the two must finally confess sinister truths. Will their admissions help or hinder any future they may have together? Or will the necromancer destroy all in a vile attempt at revenge.

"What are you doing?"

He ignored her frantic questioning. Instead, he blocked out the sound of her voice and raised his arms into the air at his sides, his fingers splayed out as he extended his senses to scan the area. His power eased out, like extensions of his fingertips, stretching into the corners of the room, seeking, searching for the source of the magic he sensed.

It was here...somewhere.

He had sensed it earlier on his arrival, but being that his aunt and siblings practiced magic on a regular basis he'd never given it a second thought.

This room, however, stank with it. He smelled the odor, something strangely like sulfur...

"A spell has been cast in this room," he muttered. A strange spell. Odd. A spell he'd never sensed before, something new. It felt off is some way he couldn't explain. Who would be working new magic of this kind in his home? And, in this room in particular. Aunt Petunia worked her spells in the privacy of her rooms upstairs, or sometimes in the gardens, but never in this room. And his siblings each, practiced in their own private settings, places where they could concentrate without the threat of being disturbed. A fairly difficult task with the number of people normally in residence at Merriweather Manor.

He took a step closer to the center of the room where he sensed a surge of power. He shivered as coldness seeped into his skin. It wrapped around his arm, sinking into his flesh, right down to the bone. This was not right.

The magic in his house was always full of warmth and gentleness. Goodness and love. This magic chilled him to the bone. His heart skipped a beat. There was fear, terror, pain. This spell was full of darkness.

She hit the up arrow and consciously stopped her right leg from trembling. There wasn’t much she could do about her shaky hands. They’d gone from a nearly imperceptible tremble to shaking like a loose motor. Damned nerves. Syreena’s wolf scented him too – sexy sentinel, all alpha male, and she didn’t care who she had to go through to get to him.
As soon as she stepped off the elevator, she recognized his deep, sexy drawl. His raspy baritone seeped under her skin like warm molasses and forced her to stand still, seismic waves challenging every ounce of her control. She took a deep breath and glided toward the sound prompting her to move hell and high water, her feet moving of their own volition, stilettos clicking lightly on the linoleum.
Moments later, Syreena watched and listened through a tiny window in the door of the boardroom. Her lips parted automatically, heat infused her body, and suddenly she had second thoughts as her boldness dissolved. He wanted her. She had no doubt about that, but he’d emphatically told her to wait.
Cord Velasquez stood about six-and-a-half feet tall with broad shoulders, a big man, but she was used to big men.

Dark Sentinels Prequel: New Release Blast!

Following a last minute title change, "Dark Sentinels Prequel" is LIVE!! Since the release of "Dark Sentinels Book One: Sable," readers have been asking questions about specific characters, how the sentinels originated, and quite a few other things related to the sentinels, so the prequel is in response to those questions. Hope you enjoy the novella :-) Join the new release blast and don't forget to enter the Rafflecopter by commenting on each host site you visit.

The "Dark Sentinels" series idea was sparked by information I read in my subscription to the "Defenders of Wildlife" update. Subsequently, I wrote a story, entered it in a Wild Rose Press competition, and received notice that I was one of the winners! Here's some information about who the "Dark Sentinels" are and how they originated, the prequel blurb, along with covers and links for the first two books in the series and my other books.

“Dark Sentinels: Origins”

Ten years ago, less than 7,000 wolves remained in North America due to humans hunting and killing them indiscriminately, trapping and maiming them, and encroaching upon and destroying their natural habitat through selfish, thoughtless actions. Prior to the 20th century, wolves numbered more than 2 million, and roamed the entirety of North America. In the early 20th century, their habitat was reduced to Canada, a few other northernmost states, New Mexico, small pockets of the southeastern United States, and Arizona.

Although they are still seriously endangered, their numbers have presently risen to more than 11,000 on this continent. Wolves have always had a special relationship with man, and many believe this relationship was always meant to be synergistic. Unfortunately, time and again, man has betrayed them, prompting the intervention of nature herself to preserve her majestic, intelligent children.

Many Native American, as well as Turkish, Roman, and Mongolian legends in particular, point to the belief that not only has man always depended upon the wolf for survival, but that men descended from wolves. The wolf has been worshipped as a God and an ancestor throughout time, and more than one legend tells of the union of a wolf and a human to produce the first half-human, half-lupine or (wolf) offspring. Tales abound of wolves nursing, protecting, and raising human children.

In order to protect themselves, they have learned to live in larger packs and maintain closer ties with their half-human progeny, but desperate times account for the resurgence of ancient protectors – Dark Sentinels…

Cover Reveal: "Dark Sentinels Prequel"

Just finished the “Dark Sentinels” prequel in response to questions and requests, but since it is a prequel with events leading into “Dark Sentinels Book One: Sable,” it ends with a major cliffhanger. In other words, you’ll have to read book one to find out about the resolution. It introduces Syreena and tells her story with Cord. I’ll include this statement: Due to the unsettling cliffhanger at the end of this novella, it is suggested that you read “Dark Sentinels Book One: Sable” first. So…here’s the blurb.
